Research and study

The Faculty of Psychology of the 'University of Bologna is conducting a study on' "Humanization pictorial effect on the perception of affective qualities of the environment in a pediatric ward".

This study investigates the effects of an intervention of humanization pictorial (with sets created pictorial trompe l'oeil and fantasy panels designed and illustrated by Sally Galotti) within the department of pediatrics of an Italian hospital. The purpose of this study is to highlight the influence of the physical and visual-spatial perception of hospitalized children, their parents and health workers with respect to the affective quality of the environment. The research provides an assessment of "emotional perception" of the pediatric hospital before and after the intervention of humanization painting by Sally Galotti.

The corridor considered, place of hospitalization for acute pediatric patients, was subjected to a pictorial work of construction carried out within the Project Juxi Sally Galotti, using a careful design, where the characters, settings, colors and materials used were chosen based on specific criteria (taking into account the needs of patients and their relatives and with an eye to the needs of health workers).

The results from the first tests proved extraordinary.
